Introduction Qi Gong is pronounced "chee gung". Qi (energy) Gong (work) basically means to exercise, or work with your life-force energy. Qi Gong is appropriate any
time in your life when you think that you would like to have better health. Qi Gong is an effective therapy and is very beneficial as a personal health practice. I was first introduced to Qi Gong in 1988. Since then I have learned and
regularly practiced nine separate styles of Qi Gong. I don't practice them all every day now, but I did practice each of them regularly for quite some time after learning them. There is a direct correlation to the amount of effort applied
to the practice of Qi Gong and the benefits received from doing the Qi Gong. This makes sense since Qi Gong when translated to English means "energy work." As with all work, it takes effort to produce a result. When practicing Qi Gong
for health, you must do the work. And when receiving Qi Gong therapy, the therapist must do the work. Either way, the quantity and quality of any Qi Gong exercise or practice will determine the results. The benefits of doing Qi Gong are
accumulative, and doing it gets easier with practice. UP TO PAGE INDEX How It Works By aligning your body's energy systems correctly, you become like a satellite dish catching a radio signal and start to collect life force
energy. By becoming conscious of the Life-force energy that you already have, you start to control it and become able to balance it and attract more of it into you. There are many systems of achieving these ends. The techniques include
body postures, making sounds, visualizations, and body movement. People have been accumulating this knowledge for many thousands of years and it is much easier, and safer to learn from someone, or a good book, than trying to rediscover
the intricacies of how our many energy systems work. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) provides an understanding of several energy systems in the body, but some Qi Gongs also incorporate the Chakras of the Yoga systems. Others even teach
you to manipulate energies past the outer limits of your aura. It may sound far-fetched, but it is as real as steel. Qi Gong, like Acupuncture, Shiatsu, and Herbs, is a very safe and effective way to improve your health and the way
you feel. All of these therapies are based on the same theories of in interrelationships between the organs of the body and the way that Qi, or energy, influences the functioning of all of the parts of the body. My TCM training included
courses in anatomy, physiology, pathology, internal medicine and diagnosis from a Western medical perspective. The TCM theories don't follow the Western perspective of how things happen in the body. TCM theory presents the macro
explanation of how the body works and Allopathic/Western medicine presents the micro perspective. While studying to become a TCM Doctor, I noticed that all of the biomedical functions of the different body tissues, the chemical
interactions of hormones, and the pathology of disease, all followed the TCM theories of Yin and Yang, and the Five Transformations. The best thing about Qi Gong is that with a little training, you can start to control your own energy
thus improving and maintaining your own health. UP TO PAGE INDEX Variations Therapeutic effects can be derived from practicing Qi Gong, or getting Qi Gong treatments. Some styles of Qi Gong, like Eight Treasures Qi Gong,
enhance and fortify the participant's health and vitality. Other styles like One Finger Zen and Yan Xin Qi Gong can be used to alleviate or prevent specific illnesses. There are Qi Gong exercises that quickly and easily balance peoples'
emotions, to promote the healthy normal flow of energy through the participant's internal organs. Kong Jing Qi Gong is specifically used to train your body for specific types of healing work. There are Qi Gong exercises designed to
enhance sexual pleasure and others for improving digestion, vision and almost any other thing that you could imagine. Qi Gong, like Yoga, has been around for several millennia, and has a multitude of styles. Having studied several
styles of Qi Gong myself, I have come to know that they all have benefits. Most Qi Gong styles describe the benefits that you can expect to get from their practice; and most of them deliver results. Knowing which is the best Qi Gong to
practice depends on an individual's health, personality, and goals. Some Qi Gongs are very dynamic and physically demanding, some require long periods of concentration, and others are very simple and easy. Anyone who practices Qi Gong
sincerely will notice the results, and the styles of Qi Gong are so diverse that everyone can find a style that they will enjoy practicing. UP TO PAGE INDEX
Combinations Having practiced many different styles of Qi Gong and
several different energy work systems, I have found it fun and beneficial to combine Qi Gong with other practices. It is important to understand what a specific Qi Gong or other energy/spiritual practice is doing to your energy before you
start mixing and matching them. Some Qi Gong practices do specific things to the way that your life force energy flows or is stored and these practices usually have many precautions that should be followed.
Some advanced Qi Gong
practices require that you not do any other energy practice for a prescribed time before and after practicing. I have bent a few rules and forgotten to check precautions a few times and learnt the hard way. It is similar to the lines on a
highway when you are driving fast. Some cross the lines at the wrong time and have to spend some time with their vehicle in the shop, or get a new vehicle before they could drive again. Most styles of Qi Gong are complimentary and
synergistic to each other, and to other healing modalities. The many styles of Qi Gong are so diverse that everyone can find a style, or styles, that they will enjoy practicing.
UP TO PAGE INDEX Therapy The effectiveness
of Qi Gong can be profound. External Qi Gong therapy, (where a Qi Gong therapist treats the client by projecting his or her energy to affect and re-balance the energy of the client), is comparable to acupuncture. Giving external Qi Gong
therapy requires an understanding of the meridian system and the Traditional Chinese Medicine theories of interrelationships between the different organs. In some ways, external Qi Gong is more effective and versatile than acupuncture,
because in addition to being able to adjust the flow of energy in the meridians, the therapist can also directly adjust the energy in an organ or other area of the body. Also, if a client has low energy the practitioner can fill them up
with Qi quite quickly. UP TO PAGE INDEX vs. Herbs
Qi Gong therapy and Qi Gong practice can both have profound health benefits, as can herbs. Like herbs, Qi Gong can quickly change the balance, consistency, intensity and
mobility of the life force energy in your body. Like the use of herbs, knowing how a Qi Gong is going to affect you is important before going ahead and using it on yourself. If used correctly, they are both very safe and beneficial; but
like water if they are not respected they can be dangerous. Taking herbs is easier than doing Qi Gong, but once you know how to do Qi Gong you don't need to buy more. Receiving Qi Gong Therapy is very easy, you lie down or sit, and the
practitioner does the work. Qi Gong Masters/Practitioners are around, but good ones are sometimes hard to find. Herbalists that can correctly customize a formula for you are more abundant, and a consultation with either is usually in the
same price range. These two are compatible and synergistic. If understood, they can be used interchangeably, or utilized to augment each other. UP TO PAGE INDEX
vs. Reiki Both Qi Gong and Reiki can be used on one's self or by
a practitioner on a client. There are many diverse styles of Qi Gong. Some have very little to do with healing and others are specifically for healing. With Reiki, the practitioner channels (receives from god/source/spirit) light through
them and into the client. They use techniques to influence the way that the energy affects the receiver. Some Reiki practitioners have medical knowledge, but it is usually directed according to the intuition of the practitioner.
Some
styles of Qi Gong are practiced with similar principles, whereupon the practitioner will use their intuition to determine how they channel or guide the energy in and out of the client. Other styles of Qi Gong require the practitioners to
practice Qi exercises daily for years to enable their bodies to absorb and emit Qi that they can completely control. Qi Gong practitioners use this ability to manipulate the energy in their client carefully and specifically according to
their diagnosis of the client's condition. I am a Qi Gong Master and a Reiki Master. They are compatible and synergistic. When I combine Qi Gong and Reiki, many of my clients can feel the difference when the second one is added in
during their treatment. UP TO PAGE INDEX vs. Quantum Healing Qi Gong is a broad term. If translated into English, it is simply "energy work". Quantum Healing is a specific energy work that is different than many others that I
have learned. In most styles of Qi Gong the practitioner's intention is to add to, subtract from, move, balance or change some aspect of the client's energy. In Quantum Healing or Quantum-Touch the practitioner does not attempt to
transfer energy to the client/recipient. The Quantum-Touch and Quantum Healing practitioner raises the vibration of energy within him/herself to the highest state of their potential and they hold that high vibration, on or in the
client, until the client's rate of vibration harmonizes with the practitioner's higher energy rate. This allows the Quantum healing to take place. As the recipient's vibratory rate matches the high vibration rate of the practitioner, the
client spontaneously heals. I have found that Quantum Healing is quite effective for many conditions. It is easy to learn and safe to practice if done correctly. It works synergistically with Qi Gong, Reiki, Shamanic Healing and is
compatible with any other energy work or healing therapy. UP TO PAGE INDEX vs. Prayer Qi Gong is a spiritual practice that has various health and healing benefits. It can be utilized for one's self or for the benefit of
others. While most people who practice Qi Gong strongly believe in God, it is not necessary to believe in God to learn, practice, or perform Qi Gong. We can do Qi Gong because God believes in us. Our bodies are designed to be powerful
energy manipulating instruments; we only need to learn how to use them. Prayer can be a powerful healing tool. But at the time of prayer, one must believe in God for it to work. In my experience, prayers are much more likely to be
answered if the one praying has no greed, or any personal gain to be received from the granting of the prayer, and if the person is emotionally sincere in their desire for it to be granted. If greed or selfishness is present when one
prays, and the prayer is answered, that answer is often delivered in a way that brings a little justice with it. The results of Qi Gong are direct. The answer to a prayer for someone to be healed may be the arrival of a doctor, or Qi
Gong master to perform the healing, or it may be a miracle. UP TO PAGE INDEX vs. Rife "Rife" refers to a system of therapy that uses equipment, producing specific frequencies, to destroy pathogens and tumours, and stimulate
the function of specific body tissue. Qi Gong utilizes the natural human life force energy to enhance the function of living people by living people. A good Qi Gong practitioner can quickly and powerfully improve the health of a severely
ill person. The Qi Gong practitioner does this by supplementing and reorganizing the life force energy that is in, and around their client's body, so that it functions better in order to deal with whatever is causing the illness. Rife can
kill the virus, bacteria, fungus or the mutating cells of a tumour, and Qi Gong can powerfully aid the client's body to deal with the toxins released as the pathogens disintegrate. The two are compatible and synergistic.
